TVcommercial-schoolassignment

Some shots out of my TVcommercial-schoolassignment.
They are all real cut-out animation.
About the one where the wall falls down, the breaking and falling of the wall isn't good, so, I'm going to "cut that out". (hahaha!)

the last drop

An other schoolassignement. Some storyboard stills from 'De laatste druppel'.
It took a lot of time, but I liked it more than drawing directly on the computer.

war... before, in and after

For an other schoolassignement, I did a groupswork, together with Laura Vandenwynckel. The theme was 'war' and we made a kind of theatermovie.

At the beginning of the performance we had a speeche about war, brought by Wouter Hessels. Than you heard a big 'PANG', lights went out and than you could see our wonderful maquette of a destroyed city. With a little webcam, we went in to it. You could see everything on te big screen in front. A lot of things from the speeche were also in the maquette. At the end we made a present of the maquette with a little note for the political leaders.

I enjoyed making the maquette and trying to take people really into that little world we created.

scenario and concept

An idea for a short. It's about a man and wife, happily married, until the woman dies. The man stays behind with only her wedding ring...

I did a little bit of character design and made some stills.
But the colours aren't the same with the thing a painted.

Dommage.

All is made in ink and aquarel.

Canti Suminati

acrylic on paper.

A 2D exercise where we had to make an animation on music. The animation is based on changes or accents in the music.
The story isn't finished, but first of all, it was an excercise to animate on music and second, it was a personal exercise for this specific technique.

The first part, I animated blind. With that I mean that there wasn't any camera+mac available to check what I was doing. So I took pictures with my photocamera, without seeing what I was actually doing. That explains why it moves so mutch...

Though I'm still pretty satisfied with the result, especially with the tentacles in the end, and had loads of fun making it!

Golfing

pencil on paper and a TV paint tree.

a 2D exercise where the focus lies within the acting of the characters and how they interact with each other.

I first animated te little one and struggled a bit.
The tall one went better. I had more fun animating him.

Lipsync

"Neeee ik ben helemaal niet bang, ik heb gewoon angst"
"Noooo I'm not afraid at aaaalllll, I'm just scared",
is what my little man is saying. I made him in clay but it's in 2 dimensions in stead of 3...
I had lots of fun making this one!!

fun with red cherry tea lights part two

I just helped the image a little bit with my blue lines...

Het meisje met kanker.

The girl with cancer from Silke Rombaut on Vimeo.

For a schoolassignment, we had to make our own version of 'Het meisje met de zwavelstokjes'. There had to be a storyboard and an animatic. I'm not really sattisfied with the result of my animatic, but I do think that the story easy to understand.

fun with red cherry tea lights

The image made itself. I just added some accentlines.

This is fun!! More comin' up!!

A tree...

It's not so easy as it might seem, painting a realistic tree (or as realistic as possible...)
This is the original aquarel painting, no photoshop added yet.

Lazing on a sunny afternoon

It's been a while. Lots of schoolwork made me forget my blog!!!
BUT
I'M
BACK
(from outer space, I just walked in to find you here...)

One of the things I made were these decor peaces.
I made them in cardboard en painted them with the magical combination of glue, acryl and sand.

Even the sand you can see on the ground has been mixed with acryl and bister.
